MEST2: BBFC Institution research

Research the BBFC: what is the institution responsible for? How is it funded? What link does it have to government?
The British Board of Film Censors was set up in 1912 by the film industry as an independent body to bring a degree of uniformity to the classification of film nationally. Statutory powers on film remain with the local councils, which may overrule any of the BBFC’s decisions, passing films we reject, banning films we have passed, and even waiving cuts, instituting new ones, or altering categories for films exhibited under their own licensing jurisdiction.

Read this BBFC guide to how films are rated. Summarise the process in 50 words.

A film is refined by a progression of procedures, dependable by an analyst, whether it'd be having some expertise in diversions or motion pictures. Ordinarily an analyst would watch and investigate DVD's primarily focusing on his knowledge and experience, which is called to be "solo-seeing", however greater establishments offer greater consideration, in this manner silver screen movies require rating in groups of two. These inspectors take into components, for example, chiefly: general connection (plot, character and so forth), cinematography and dialect; sex; drugs and so forth.

Read this BBFC section on controversial decisions. Why did The Dark Knight generate a large amount of media coverage regarding its certificate? Do you agree with the 12A certificate The Dark Knight was awarded?

The dark knight was hit by a lot of controversy because of its 12A age rating which many people thought was too low. This was because of its excessive violence. 12A guidelines allow moderate violence as long as it can be justified by the context. However, many people thought that the dark knight should have been a 15 age rating or even 18 because of its excessive violence it showcased to its superhero fans.

What are the guidelines for a 15 certificate?

strong violence
frequent strong language (e.g. 'f***').
portrayals of sexual activity
strong verbal references to sex
sexual nudity
brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence
discriminatory language or behaviour
drug taking

The BBFC website offers an explanation of every classification it makes and detailed case studies on selected titles. Choose one 15-rated film from the BBFC case studies section and summarise the classification the film was given and why

i chose the movie attack the block as it is Classified by BBFC as to be 15 uncut, presumably because of the way that it is a sub/half and half kind of comic drama, blended with frightfulness AND sci-fi - an exceptionally surprising and unusual sorts set up together, and possibly this speaks to adolescents of our era, who have offbeat perspectives and like a blend of things.
